My wife, friends, and I spent a magical two weeks at Can Solaric in the sun of Catalonia... soaking up rays, splashing in the pool, hiking, and visiting nearby sights. The villa was magnificent in every way. We were amazed at the transformation the property had undergone to become the paradise we enjoyed; thumbing through the "before and after" photos was a favorite evening pastime.
The location is absolutely perfect for an extended stay. It is just secluded enough to provide quiet and solitude, but conveniently located to more attractions than one could reasonably soak up in just two weeks. We visited Girona, Barcelona, the Costa Brava, the Pyrenees, and Southern France just to name a few--ALL WITHIN EASY DRIVING DISTANCE OF THE VILLA.
My wife and I have stayed at vacation properties all over the world including restored farmhouses in Italy and Ireland, and Can Solaric is far and away the best appointed and finished of any we have visited. The house facilities have no gaps and the outdoor recreation equipment (bicycles, bocce, etc.) proved a welcome and handy diversion during relaxing days around the property. I myself am a chef and was pleased to note that the kitchen had actual cooking equipment rather than the paste normally found in vacation rentals. In fact, I found myself exclaiming on a daily basis, "Look! Real knives!"
All in all everyone on the trip agreed that this was one of the best holidays that they had ever had. It provided a wonderful capstone for a group of friends to celebrate graduation from medical school. Thank you very much for your care, hard work, and thoughtfulness in creating such an amazing leisure retreat. We would all come back in a heartbeat, I can assure you!

David the holiday was absolutely brilliant!
We loved the house and had a terrific time.
Sara was absolutely charming and also very
helpful. We asked her to help in booking a good restaurant for lunch on
Xmas eve and she arranged it in a lovely restaurant in Besalu where the
chef only opens if he has a reservation. He prepared a 'menu degustation'
for us - 6 courses; between us all we have eaten at some of the finest
restaurants in the world over the years, but I have to say that this meal
was right up there with the best. We were moved to give the chef a standing
ovation at the end - all this and the finest wines for only E80 per head
(a lot more than the restaurant in the village I know,but for a special
occasion surely hard to beat).
Sara was incredibly helpful - we didn't
actually have any problems, but I get the impression that she would be
quick to deal with them if any arose.
Overall:
The whole experience far exceeded our expectations. And even more so due
to the gracious efforts of the house manager, Sara. She could not have
been more helpful and generous with her time and information.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Weather was a bit gray - but we do not hold the owner responsible!
Surrounding Area:
Never heard of Beselu prior to the trip - it was the most wonderful small
town we experienced - 10 minutes away. Short drive to the Dali museum
in Figueres, the coast town of Cadeques and some wonderful towns a hour
away in France
Nearby Events or Locales:
Serinya was a lovely walk away. What a baker and bakery! And Cafe Sindicat
is a fantastic cafe for breakfast and lunch.
We thought the house and the area was lovely. The
house was clean, comfortable and warm and we loved the way it had been
renovated. We made full use of the sauna and jacuzzi bath. We did feel
though that the pool was not as warm as we would have liked and one of
our children would not get in it at all, all week.
We had a lovely, relaxing holiday and found Sara to be freindly
and helpful.
I would be grateful if you could send a price list for
the rest of the year as we may like to book a return visit.
